Inspired by our grand mother who organised piñata parties in Nicaragua for children in need...
Who we are
We are brother and sister Pierre and Xiomara Baltodano raised in Belgium with Nicaraguan roots. We make our living by selling burritos in our DONKI restaurants. Grateful for the support of the DONKI community we want to give back in each community we operate in.
We started the Piñata Project, inspired by our dearest grand-mother who organised piñata parties in Nicaragua for children in need. (and also because we always would have a piñata for our birthdays. Candy everywhere! Memorable times!)
Our first piñata party was organised on December 20th 2017. We chose to collaborate with the kindest people of De Kettekeet, the kids division of community center Sint-Maartensdal in Leuven.
Besides offering 2 DONKI piñatas, we served 80 kids a warm Mexican inspired lunch. It was a wonderful day full of laughter, ultrasonic screaming and so much fun!
We learned that you don't need to wait be rich to give back. With simple ideas we were able to give these kids a day to remember. Our mission was accomplished.
